Garryowen Equestrienne Turnout

Australia's most prestigious horse showing event, the Garryowen Equestrienne Turnout, continued a 77-year tradition with the finest female riders vying for the coveted trophy.

The event honours the memory of Violet Murrell who died while trying to save her champion horse Garryowen and takes place on Coca-Cola as part of the Horses in Action program.

ALPA Young Auctioneers Competition

Congratulations to Miles Pfitzner from Landmark who took out the ALPA Victorian Young Auctioneers Competition on Sunday 25 September. Miles will go on to represent Victoria in the National Finals. Congratulations also to runner up Morgan Davis from Elders.

The ALPA Victorian Young Auctioneers Competition is always a highlight of the Royal Melbourne Show with the first part of the competition involving a Led Steer & Heifer Competition where the quality of the steers and heifers are judged. The cattle are then sold in an auction where the young auctioneers are judged on their selling techniques.

Royal Melbourne Championship Dog Show

Royal Melbourne Championship Dog ShowThe Royal Melbourne Championship Dog Show is the biggest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere and features over 190 breeds. One of the most renowned Show competitions, the Royal Melbourne Championship Dog Show is one of the best in the world.

Eagerly contested each year the most prestigious awards include the Best in Show, Best Puppy in Show and Best Baby Puppy in Show.

Congratulations Jo Kramer of Roleystone in Western Australia who was awarded Best in Show with Whippet, Gr Ch Arjai Almost Criminal.


Australia v New Zealand Under 21 Test Series

Australia v New Zealand Under 21 Test SeriesChips again flew in the Isuzu D-MAX Woodchop Pavilion at this year’s Royal Melbourne Show when the Woodchop Competition thrilled spectators for the first nine days of Show.

The Australian Under 21 Team was victorious against New Zealand, winning the Test Series 3-0. Go Aussies!

World Cup Showjumping

World Cup ShowjumpingWith the 2012 London Olympic Games looming, Australia’s best showjumpers were put to the test on Coca-Cola Arena at this year’s Royal Melbourne Show. Battling it out to qualify for the Olympics in world-class Showjumping, the competition was heated!

Congratulations to Jamie Kermond who won the World Cup Showjumping riding Valhalla 3 (Owned By Desmond Russell).
