Poultry & Alpacas
Alpacas
There's nothing like seeing the best Alpacas in Australia at the Royal Melbourne Show!
In 2012 the Alpaca competition will be held during the first weekend of the Royal Melbourne Show on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd September. The Alpaca competition will be relocating to The Weekly Times Livestock Pavilion where showcasing alpacas alongside the beef cattle, goats and sheep is a great opportunity for patrons to get close to the best of the breeds. Show visitors will have an opportunity to not only watch the judging but will also be invited to get inside the ring and see first-hand what makes a blue ribbon alpaca.
Poultry
All Show visitors have the opportunity to see the many varied and unusual poultry competition birds this year, with approximately 1200 birds on display including bantams, ducks, geese, guinea fowl and turkeys. All breeds will be judged on Saturday 22 September with poultry on display for the full length of Show until Tuesday 2 October. This year Show patrons are encouraged to participate in the judging process through public judging sessions.
