NAB Animal Nursery – FREE

This year the popular NAB Animal Nursery has been relocated into the pavilion closest to the car park entrance with more than 450 animals of 16 different varieties to meet and cuddle! The NEW NAB Animal Nursery will house a patting pen twice the size of previous years making it even easier to pat your favorite animal.

The patting pen also extends outdoors where families can get up close to a range of animals. See all your favorites including puppies, lambs, kids, calves, chooks, emus, ducklings and rabbits.

This year pigs with their newborn piglets make their return to the Show, with the dedicated Piglet Patting Pen....not to mention the Live Birthing Centre, where viewers can experience the amazing spectacle of a lamb being born.

The NAB Animal Nursery is open from 9.30am – 8.00pm daily.

The Farm Discovery Trail – FREE

Designed for kids of all ages, the Farm Discovery Trail provides a unique opportunity to learn about life in the country in a fun, educational and interactive environment.

The aim is to complete the Farm Discovery Trail by visiting 5 Fun Stations, learning about agricultural industries and answering a simple question in the free Farm Discovery Trail booklet. Booklets can be collected from any of the Fun Stations.

Activities include:

  • Click Go the Shears – Shearing Show (The Farmyard)
  • Feeding Time (The Farmyard)
  • Animals of OZ (The Farmyard)
  • The Milking Barn (The Weekly Times Livestock Pavilion)
  • The Beef Experience (The Weekly Times Livestock Pavilion)

Milk a Cow in the Milking Barn – FREE

The Milking Barn in The Weekly Times Livestock Pavilion provides a hands-on, real life farm experience for kids, where they will be provided the unique opportunity to hand milk a cow or observe a cow being milked by a farmer. The sessions will also include learning about the dairy industry and how butter is made. This interactive, entertaining and unique activity is sure to be great fun, with prizes on offer every show!

Sessions Times: 10.00am, 11.30am, 1.00pm, 3.00pm & 4.30pm daily.

Little Green Thumbs – FREE

Visit Little Green Thumbs in the NEW Flowers, Gardening and Pets Pavilion and let kids try their hand at gardening, where they have the opportunity to pot a plant and take it home to put in the garden!

9.30am – 5.00pm daily.

Spudhunters - FREE

Curious about spuds? Spudhunters is a free and exciting interactive food education activity for children aged between 4 and 10 years old located in the Grand Pavilion! This fun ‘hands on’ food game celebrates the potato while encouraging children to join the journey of the whole ‘farm’ to ‘table’ experience of the humble but rich spud! Children will learn about the life cycle of the potato and life as a potato farmer with a resident chef on board to tantalize their tastes with scrumptious morsels, demonstrating simple, tasty recipes that are easy to make at home using freshly dug spuds!

Children will leave Spudhunters with a couple of potatoes each to take home, growing & eating notes, some meaningful kitchen garden education as well as learning what a wonderful food source the spud is!

Fast Forward Victorian Government Expo

Visit the ‘Fast Forward’ Victorian Government Expo for a free fun, interactive and educational experience at this year’s Show, featuring four key areas to inform and educate you all through health and safety, environment, learning and jobs, and community! Press Rewind to celebrate our history, Play to learn about Victoria's many invaluable services, Pause to enjoy live entertainment and Fast Forward to see and hear about Victoria's future initiatives.

Daily performances include live presentations, performances and music throughout the Show as well as physical activities at the go-for your life stand; get up close and personal to a real MFB fire-truck as well as learning about a day on the beat with the police where kids can sit in a mini car or chopper! Get involved in the Premiers Active Family Challenge to win some fantastic prizes, discover Victoria’s exciting arts and cultural scene as well as testing out some of the latest technology used in our primary schools with games, software and interactive games plus much, much more!
